Dreaming of Summer Reception

Wine, floral + greenery and a room filled with love, what more do you need? This beautiful wedding reception was photographed at Summerhill Winery, located in the heart of the Okanagan, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Overlooking Okanagan Lake, they celebrated their union with their loved ones. The decor was elegant, modern and minimalist - the pink + greenery pallet was stunning. While it was a smokey day in the Okanagan, we managed to get these stunning wedding reception photos. I wish these two a lifetime of happiness.

Spring engagement in the orchards of Kelowna.

Montana and Felix fell in love in Kelowna, so it was fitting to capture their engagement photos there!

By looking at these photographs would you believe this was their first set of professional photographs?! Naturals!

Montana envisioned her engagement photographs being taken in an apple tree orchard in bloom. Planning to take engagement photographs in an orchard is a little bit tricky because apple trees only remain in bloom for three to five weeks.

So we waited an entire year to take their engagement photographs! We checked the apple orchard multiples times to ensure we got the right moment for photos.

It was a lovely coincidence that we were also able to capture pictures in a meadow of Arrowleaf BalsamRoot. These flowers are also known as the Okanagan sunflower, and they're the emblem of the City of Kelowna. These beautiful flowers grow in clusters throughout the valley for a small period between April - May. Talk about great timing!

Another thing we planned for the engagement session to be on a sunny day without rain. I generally prefer to photograph couples an hour before sunset. Gradually capturing the transition from normal colours to golden lit images.

I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to photograph their engagement session in a beautiful orchard in the Okanagan Valley. It was totally worth waiting a year!

As a photographer, I am always willing to wait for the perfect time of year to take engagement photographs.

Elise and Shawn's Engagement Session at Big White Ski Resort!

Elise and Shawn are high school sweethearts! They have been together for 16 amazing years and then Shawn decided to pop the question while on vacation!

These two cuties came to Big White Ski Resort for their engagement photos. The winter wonderland is completely different from they're upcoming destination wedding in Mexico, where they will be trading the snow covered landscape of Canada for the sandy beach shores of Mexico.

We started our session by walking through the nordic trail at Big White. The nordic trial covers 25 km (15.5 miles) of trail. We only explored 1 km of the trail together. We weren't the only ones on the trial... we got photobombed by a dog sled team! But I must say, it makes for some exciting images.

We did a tiny loop around the nordic trail. At some point we saw the Ice Tower in the backdrop. Elise wanted to see if we could take photographs near the ice tower so we went to the office and asked for their permission to take few photographs. They were happy to say yes, and I'm so glad they did! The pictures turned out beautifully!

We then popped some champagne to celebrate their future together, ending our session at the ice tower.

Needless to say, it was a joy photographing these two love birds at Big White Ski Resort!
